February 12

She was a little tomboy, loved to run with the boys in the neighborhood, to rollerskate fast down the steep hill, and to build forts in the woods.

She had a rope tied to a big tree and she’d grab ahold of that thing and swing back and forth and yell like she was Tarzan.

She could be a real little lady too, and loved to get dolled up for special occasions.

She was a beautiful child, and she grew into a lovely woman.

She taught us all what kindness and patience and joy really looked like. She taught us courage in the face of fear. She taught us never ever ever to give up.

She was born Margaret Elaine Chilton on this very day in 1935. We think of her often. And we miss her very much. Love you mom. Happy Birthday.
