Coy Barefoot is the Executive Producer and Host or The Coy Barefoot Program, which is broadcast each Sunday morning at 10a on ABC16 in Charlottesville (and streams live online on this page) and on Thursday evenings on WVPT-PBS across much of Virginia. He is also the Host and Producer for Citizens Band Radio, which offers thoughtful conversations exploring issues of journalism and media, democracy and citizenship. Coy was the Host, Producer and Creator of Charlottesville—Right Now! on NewsRadio 1070 WINA from 2006 to 2013. He started in radio in 1996 as the host of Coy Barefoot Live on WNRN 91.9 FM.
In his work as author, radio and television host, Coy has interviewed a number of the nation’s top political leaders including President Barrack Obama, President Gerald Ford, Vice President Joe Biden, one-time presidential candidate and former Mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani, a number of U.S. Senators including John Warner, Jim Webb, Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, and George Allen, as well as eight Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court and no less than eight Governors of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Coy also regularly interviews noted journalists and best-selling authors, among them John Grisham, Larry Sabato, Annette Gordon-Reed, Kimberly Dozier, Dahlia Lithwick, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, and others.
Coy also hosts and produces Barefoot Excursions, a documentary short that explores the history of Charlottesville and the University of Virginia. The program is broadcast weekly on WCAV CBS.
